As Managing Partner and founder of Audacious Inquiry, Mr. Brandt is committed to leveraging information technology and bold leadership to deliver smarter solutions to healthcare stakeholders. He established Ai, and has overseen the expansion of its team of nationally respected health information policy experts who have consistently demonstrated a track record of unparalleled accountability and on-budget results in agile environments. He serves as a staff adviser to CRISP, Maryland’s Health Information Exchange; and is a board member of Evergreen, Maryland’s Health Cooperative.

Scott Afzal

Partner

For over seven years, Mr. Afzal has served as a Principal and Director of Health Information Systems at Ai. He also serves as the Program Director for Maryland’s Health Information Exchange (CRISP). He has established relationships with state and federal government stakeholders and partners, and led strategic initiatives underpinning the company’s growth. As a result of his work, Ai has captured an expanding operational footprint in the fields of healthcare policy and technology focused on innovative IT product offerings.

Greg Farnum

Principal

Greg is a Director of Health Information Systems at Ai, and relationship manager for the ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT) portfolio of contracts. In addition, Greg serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for a contract with the ONC State HIE team to develop patient matching recommendations for MU Stage 3. He lives in Montpelier, Vermont, and enjoys water skiing, hunting, fly fishing, and coaching basketball in his spare time.

Robert Horst

Principal

As a Principal of Audacious Inquiry, Mr. Horst leverages his 15+ years of project management, health information technology, and leadership experience to create meaningful and lasting partnerships with Ai customers. He joined Ai in 2010, and has overseen successful deployments of Ai’s leading encounter notification service (ENS) and IBM’s Initiate Master Data Management Solutions for several state health information organizations. Mr. Horst is also Ai’s Privacy & Security Officer, and has responsibility for the management of the organization’s employees and contractors.

Bill Howard

Principal

Bill leads Product Strategy with 20+ years of product development and leadership experience. Prior to joining Ai, he worked at Caradigm (GE/Microsoft) as VP of Product Management and Solution Architecture. He is married and has two children, and enjoys any and all outdoor sports.

Sandeep Antony

Enterprise Architect

Sandeep joined the Ai team in 2010 and was one of initial contributors to the development of ENS. Beyond ENS, Sandeep has been a pillar of the Ai technology team. Sandeep has been a resident expert in MDM, leading the implementation and operations of many of Ai’s MDM deployments. He has also been the go-to resource for many of our software and services customers, thus contributing to our strategy work and business development activities. Sandeep embodies so many of the character traits that make up an Ai’er; he is an expert in his field, he is humble, he cares about his colleagues, and he works incredibly hard. Sandeep will continue to lead the ENS team as he takes on broader Ai technology team leadership responsibilities.

Craig Behm

Director

Craig has performed an active role in the healthcare industry for nearly 10 years. Prior to joining Ai, as a representative of the medical society he led the formation and operations of the largest state-designated management services organization, which directly supported Maryland’s success in the Regional Extension Center.

Julie Boughn

Senior Director

Julie's passion for modernizing enterprise health IT, improving care coordination, healthcare delivery, and population health nationwide is evident through her diverse background across federal and state health agencies. She has previously held several CMS leadership roles and joined Ai in September of 2016.

Evan Carter

Senior Director

Evan joined Ai from Booz Allen Hamilton in 2009. Evan has played a leadership role across many critical Ai customer and initiatives. That work includes support CRISP, and importantly spinning up and managing CRISP’s work in DC. Perhaps most notably, Evan has skillfully led Ai’s work in Florida over many years. He moved to Florida for two years to manage the project from Tallahassee. In doing so, Evan forged relationships with key leaders in Florida. Those relationships, along with the broader Ai team’s performance, have allowed us to shift into the prime role in Florida offering ENS and other health information exchange services throughout the state. Evan has done a remarkable job in Florida and across an array of other projects.

Samit Desai, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Samit is a practicing Emergency physician and former CMIO, with a passion for leveraging health information to improve healthcare system performance as well as enhance clinical decision making. He has led large scale efforts to digitize healthcare as well as thought leadership around how to best utilize health information exchange.

Lindsey Ferris

Senior Director

Lindsey joined Ai in 2012 supporting a number of projects at CRISP. Since that time, Lindsey has gained the respect of both Ai colleagues and customers and has earned a spot on the CRISP leadership team. Lindsey has led the deployment of Maryland’s Prescription Drug Monitoring program, becoming an expert in the process, and has become a trusted advisor to State policy makers on health IT solutions to support public health initiatives. While maintaining the workload that comes with leading a large customer engagement, Lindsey has also consistently pursued advanced degrees in public health. She is currently working on her dissertation for her Doctorate of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School.

Ajay Gollapalli

Director and Solutions Architect

Ajay is a leader in product strategy and management with an in-depth experience in execution for over the last 18 years. Prior to joining Ai, Ajay was with Microsoft and Caradigm helping and managing product delivery and customer engagements. He lives in Northern Virginia with his family and spends his spare time volunteering on young kids' development activities.

Sarah Miller

Senior Director

Sarah's expertise in translating business needs to technologists has been fundamental in implementing several successful multi-million dollar projects. As a Senior Director for Ai, her passion is helping clients design specific strategies to deliver technology projects. In her free time, Sarah enjoys travel with her friends and family and scrapbooking/card-making.

Jason McNamara

Director

Jason's passion for helping others is evident through his dedication to improving health IT and through nonprofit work that he devotes his time to outside the office. His background includes overseeing the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program and Medicaid funding; developing strategies to support the use of health information exchange (HIE), public health enterprise tools, and services; and connecting health IT policy with health IT technologies. He is a cofounder of Squad Leaders, a nonprofit committed to assisting military members transition back to their communities through existing military veterans in their communities.

Aditya Naik

Director

Addy is a Director in the health information systems practice, specializing in Health Information Technology and Healthcare Policy. Addy has more than 13 years of experience serving in key roles for some of the largest stakeholders in the healthcare industry. He is a hobbyist programmer, an amateur photographer and Formula 1 fan. He likes collaborating in Hackathons and has been involved in multiple technology startups in the past. He lives with his wife and son in Northern Virginia.

Amber Neal

Director

Amber is a results-centric manager practiced in promoting cross-collaborative environments to enhance client service and satisfaction. Prior to joining Ai, she worked with the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), managing a team of ONC certification SMEs to successfully define and fulfill project requirements. She has an extensive background in nursing, and is a mother to two twins.

Karen Pruitt

Director

Karen joined Ai as a Director in the health information systems practice. She has 11 years of experience in leading consulting companies, with recent experience in Federal Health IT and Health Insurance Exchanges. She is a certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), and has led business analysis, development and testing teams. Karen and her husband Graham are avid golfers, and love taking golf vacations in warm and sunny places.

Anand Raghavan

Director of Technical Operations

Anand is an Integration Team Lead, bringing over 14 years of experience in application design and integration, with particular expertise in data management in the healthcare and retail sectors. He is a Mirth Certified Developer, HL7 2.7 Certified Analyst, and a Cloverleaf Level II Developer. He’s also part of the guild of Ai photographers.

Daniel is a software solutions architect focusing on Ai's state health IT initiatives. He has extensive experience as an architect and developer in the health IT domain and holds an MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins.

Will Smith

MDM Architect

Will joined Ai from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services where he was an Applications Architect specializing in projects relating to the Kentucky EHR program, including a project that enabled providers to attest Meaningful Use. Since joining Ai, he has supported the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in the development of the Master Data Management (MDM) component of the Enterprise Data Services Contract (EDSC).

Omkar Adhali

Software Engineer

Omkar is a software engineer working primarily in Java on our ONC portfolio of projects. He is currently finishing up his Master’s in computer engineering at UMBC. He has experience in hardware engineering and robotics as well as software engineering, so if you need help with your robot he is the guy to ask.

Srini Adhinarayanan

Senior Software Engineer

Srini is a senior engineer who is working on ONC SITE and ONC NIST Certification Tools projects. Most recently he worked on designing and developing applications for the electronic filing infrastructure of the Federal Election Commission. He holds a BE in Computer Science and Engineering from Bharatiyar University.

Jenner Alpern

Software Engineer

joined Ai in 2013 as an Analyst and has amassed a significant knowledge of the Tableau suite of products. He lead the deployment of Tableau infrastructure for CRS before transitioning the day to day operations to the CRS ops team. Jenner worked on several critical reports for the CRS team including Key Metrics, Readmissions Reports and Panel Reports for Hospitals and Practices. He, along with Scott, Dr. Sharfstein and others, published an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association on "The Adequacy of Individual Hospital Data to Identify High Utilizers and Assess Community Health” for which he did the underlying data analysis.

Swati Bhandari

Senior Operations Engineer

Swati joined Ai in 2015 and has quickly made an impact on how Ai supports its customers. She has mastered the critical support tasks for ENS, Mirth, MDM tools and has brought some much-needed structure to how Ai supports after hours support. She may be best known for her rapid responsiveness to issues, and her thorough diagnosis of and follow-up to critical issues. Swati’s “can do” attitude and positive nature get mentioned often by customers, but also internally.

Daniel Brown

Software Engineer

Dan is a Junior Software Engineer, and is fluent in so many programming languages he likely began learning at birth. He holds an Associates of Science Degree in Recording Arts with a focus on Game Programming from Full Sail University, and has done coursework in Computer Science/Hardware at Keene State College. Dan is also a very melodious fellow; he’s played guitar for over 12 years and also plays drums, sings, and composes.

Michael Calcagno

Michael is a Mirth Certified integration engineer with over 15 years of Healthcare IT experience, 10 of which were dedicated to integration and HL7, and has a background in Laboratory Information Systems. In his spare time he likes to play guitar, and is a husband and father to two sons.

Kelly Carulli

Manager

Kelly is a Manager on the Health IT Policy team at Ai. As a Project Management Professional (PMP), she provides support on various projects pertaining to standards measurement and development, immunization registries, and environmental scans of the health IT landscape. Prior to joining Ai, she spent five years in various roles at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene with the Office of Oral Health. Kelly was unanimously declared MVP of the Ai Dodgeball Team.

Matt Carver

Senior Software Engineer

Matt is a Senior Software Engineer with multiple certifications and over 15 years of advanced IT experience within the Department of Defense prior to joining Ai. He has contiguous experience designing, developing, implementing, and sustaining Enterprise capabilities in support of thousands of end users. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He enjoys mountain biking and building and flying Quadcopters

Barbara Chapman

Manager

Barbara is an Analyst and coordinator with over eight years of experience in business and policy analysis. In addition to her project work in health IT policy, she led Ai’s process improvement efforts to define its software engineering process to achieve CMMI level 3, is the resident SharePoint super-user, and leads human capital initiatives and resource management. In short, she holds the entire office together.

Ping is a Software Engineer with close to a decade of engineering experience. At Ai, she has designed, implemented, deployed and supported Encounter Notification Service for Delaware and Florida, and supported Encounter Notification Service feature development for Utah and Maryland. Previously, Ping was a Software Design Engineer in Test at Microsoft China where she worked towards SQL Server Denali CTP3 release.

Khushboo is a Software Engineer with an extensive background in Java development. She is a recent graduate from UMBC, holding an MS in Information Technology.She loves travelling to new countries and learning foreign languages.

Ishant is an experienced MDM Engineer currently working on master data management initiatives for CMS. He joined Ai over four years of experience engineering IBM and MDM software implementations and is an IBM Infosphere MDM certified developer and technical professional.

Katy Ekey

Software Engineer

Katy is a software engineer with over twelve years of experience writing web applications for various government agencies. She’s developed service-layer code, front ends, and databases. At Ai, she primarily works on the CHPL and PULSE projects. Katy holds Bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science from UMBC and a Master’s in computer science from John’s Hopkins.

Aster Evenson

Lead Test Engineer

Aster joined Ai in 2012 and has been instrumental in building Ai’s QA team (including Offshore) and establishing our current QA processes. Aster has worked tirelessly to improve on how Ai conducts its QA by incorporating automation and improved documentation. She has always rallied the team to achieve critical deadlines. Recently she has taken the role of Project Lead and Scrum Master for the ENS team. In addition to all of this, Aster is a strong leader and exemplifies what it means to be a Manager at Ai. She ensures that her team has the resources and guidance they need to excel. Aster is a great asset to Ai.

Marc Falcone

Senior Manager

Since he joined in 2014, Marc has become a subject matter expert in clinical quality measurement. He has dedicated a majority of his time to leading Ai’s CAliPHR team, where he has successfully launched the CAliPHR product to CRISP, and where it is currently in development for DC. In addition to his work on CAliPHR, Marc has supported numerous ONC projects and led Ai’s effort to guide Chase Brexton through the Meaningful Use program. Previously, he spent seven and a half years at Aerotek as a Business Development Manager within their Engineering Division.

Jennifer joined Ai as a Business Analyst specializing in Health Information Systems, providing project management support on various projects for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). She has experience as a Summer Analyst for QuestMark Partners and was part of Johns Hopkins University’s Biomedical Design Team. A recent grad, she holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

Richard Johnson

Richard is a Software Developer with 7 years of experience in software development, including extensive experience in the Microsoft .NET technology stack. He is primarily working on enhancing and maintaining the Encounter Notification Service (ENS) system, and designing and developing a service that will automatically add patients to the ENS. He has a bachelor’s of technology in computer science and engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology in Kerala, India.

Previously, he was a Systems Support Specialist at Becton Dickinson and Company, and a Senior Software Application Engineer at Antek HealthWare. Anusha Kanuri is a Software Engineer with three years of experience in software development, most recently as a technical assistant for the Education Department at UMBC. She’s holds a Masters in Information Systems from UMBC.

Keith is an experienced Systems Engineer, managing technology infrastructure for Ai and advising our clients to help improve their systems. He has a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Applied Information Technology from Towson University.

Jacob Lambert

Software Engineer

Jacob joined Ai as a Software Engineer with an extensive background in business cryptography, systems analysis, and as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. At Ai, Jacob is a software developer for Maryland’s HIE, and he developed and maintains the Encounter Notification System. A family man, Jacob lives with his wife, Jordan, and baby boy. He enjoys math, philosophy, law, and the outdoors.

Andrew Larned

Solutions Architect

Andrew is a Senior Software Engineer with eight years of experience building the most advanced satellite command and control ground systems in the world, used by the NRO, the Air Force, NASA, NOAA, and commercial and foreign partners – from detailed software engineering to large-scale systems engineering. He also has fifteen years of experience writing code, engineering solutions, and leading teams, including development of the Air Force's first online HR website, the “virtual MPF” (Military Personnel Flight). He is currently working on an MS in Information Systems at DePaul University.

Rene Lowe

Rene Drumheller joined Ai as a project manager for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange project. She brings extensive health IT project management and leadership experience to the team, most recently as Team Lead/Mentor at Navy Services FamilyLine COMPASS in Atsugi, Japan. Rene has worked all over the world, including California, Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Korea. She holds a BA in Professional/Technical Writing and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Dan is a Software Engineer proficient in Visual Studio 2013, ReSharper, SSMS 2012, SOSS, SQL Server Profiler, Fiddler, Test Manager, NUnit, SpecFlow, HP Quality Center, and much more. In 2011, he graduated from UMBC with a BS in Information Systems. Outside of work Dan is a jack of all trades; he snowboards, skiis and longboards, plays competitive soccer, and is a real estate investor.

Karan Mansukhani

Senior Manager

Karan Mansukhani is a Manager of Health Information Systems. He works closely with the leadership at CRISP (Maryland’s Health Information Exchange) to align funding streams with organizational goals as well as develops marketing, outreach and adoption strategies for existing services. Karan is passionate about supporting the healthcare community in delivering efficient care that is backed up by data. He leads a variety of initiatives, some of which include productizing reports and analytics, facilitating secure texting and image exchange. Karan serves on CRISP Integrated Care Network Steering committee and is critical member of the organization’s success.

Michelle McCoy

Associate

Michelle is an all-in-one designer, social media strategist, and go-to communications wordsmith. She obtained her Bachelors from UMBC in Graphic Design and her Masters from MICA in the Business of Art and Design, although she believes education and self-improvement is a continuous journey.

Michael Melusky

Senior Software Engineer

Mike is a senior engineer, working primarily on projects such as CRISP PIM and statewide MPI initiatives. Previously, he worked as an application developer for Highmark in Camp Hill, PA. He teaches programming languages and computer science courses in his spare time, and has a MS in Computer Science from Penn State.

Kory Mertz

Director of Policy

Kory joined Ai in 2015 from The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) where he worked as a subject matter expert in state and federal health IT policy. At Ai, he has successfully lead multiple ONC projects, including developing a report on how to measure the actual use of standards in-the-field. He led the development of a strategy to connect all of the skilled nursing facilities in Maryland to CRISP. In his new role as Director of Policy, Kory will continue to provide Ai and our customers with expertise interpreting federal regulation and programs, including Meaningful Use and the Quality Payment Program, to translate policy knowledge into actionable steps and strategies for clients.

Tim Mooney

Tim is a Project Manager who joined Ai with ten years of experience with deep business and technical solutions integration expertise. He has worked directly with the SVP and CNO for all of MedStar to implement a web based nursing dashboard from the Advisory Group, and has served as an Applications Analyst at MedStar Harbor Hospital.

Ashwini More

Senior Automation Test Engineer

Ashwini is a solutions-focused QA tester with four years of manual & automation testing experience, who has thorough knowledge in VB Script, SQL, Perl, Linux/Unix & management tools. Her expertise includes writing & executing test cases and test scenarios with a good grasp on SDLC. In her spare time Ashwini enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, watching movies and spending time with her family and friends. She lives with her husband Rahul and baby girl Trisha in Northern Virginia.

Ruchi Naik

Ruchi joined the Ai team in June 2015 as an experienced Software Engineer, with a background in data analysis. She recently graduated from University of Maryland with an MS in Information Systems, and is a classically trained Indian dancer who still loves to dance and travel.

Apurva Nayak

Apurva is a Software and MDM Engineer, managing multiple large, complex IBM Initiate implementations, including developing and implementing MDM and data integration frameworks and implementation strategies. Previous to Ai, Apurva was a Senior Systems Admin at Maricom, and a Senior Technical Consultant at Perficient. He lives with his wife in Towson, MD.

Bhoomi Patel

Senior Automation Test Engineer

Bhoomi joined Ai with more than 7 years of experience as an Automation Engineer. She is a fun loving, dedicated employee with expertise on various automation tools like Selenium, QTP, UFT, Silk. She also has experience working on Java, Perl, VBScript. She is responsible for the quality and QA sign offs for ICN Router project. She holds a bachelor degree in Computer Science. She lives in northern Virginia with her husband and son.

Peter Roca

Peter brings over a decade of experience to AI working on full stack client-facing applications for desktop, mobile and web platforms. He is currently a senior engineer on the ENS team. He enjoys fine woodworking and building electronics when not at work and holds a B.S. in Neurobiology/Physiology and a M.S. in Information Systems.

Colin is a support engineer for Ai's Encounter Notification Service (ENS), onboarding participants and providing software support for ENS implementations across the US. Colin holds a BS in Information Systems from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Lydia Russell

Office Aid

Lydia is a recent graduate of UMBC. While working as an office aid at Ai, she has been instrumental in Inova Meaningful Use testing and in MHCC’s EHR Product Portfolio update effort. She lives in Baltimore with her two cats and one sugar glider.

Sandeep Savarala

Software Engineer

Sandeep Savarala joined us as an Engineer in our Software & Technology group to work on our ONC portfolio of projects, specifically the ONC/NIST Certification Tools project. He has a masters in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor of technology in Computer Science & Engineering from GITAM University in India. Outside of work he loves to watch movies, play badminton and cook.

Raina Sharma

Associate

Raina is an epidemiologist and joined Ai as an Associate on the CRS team. Prior to joining Ai, she was an ORISE fellow for 3 years, spending most of that time at the U.S. Army Public Health Center. She has her Masters in Public Health from Columbia University and her Bachelors from Bucknell University. She resides in Maryland with her husband and her husky, who is a tough running partner to keep up with.

Kailash is an MDM Engineer with a background in software development, supporting Ai's IBM Initiate implementations across the country. He has an MS in Computer & Information Science from the University of Alabama, an MBA, and a BE in Computer Science.

Sabal is a Software Engineer with experience designing, developing and implementing different types of healthcare systems, and specializes in using the Microsoft technology stack. He carries an impressive skill set and is proficient in more programming languages than will fit in this bio. Outside of work, he trains for wrestling and jiu-jitsu.

Matt Stankiewicz

Matt is an interactive designer focusing on animation, infographics, and UX design. He graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a bachelor degree in Graphic Design in the Spring of 2016. Outside of work, he enjoys his dog Bruno, playing sports and Netflix. Matt currently lives the Baltimore area.

Scott Starkey

Software Engineer

Scott is an Engineer of Software and Technology. His responsibilities include developing and implementing the Ai company website, and providing JIRA support and maintenance to the ONC. He is from Baltimore but lives in Harford County with his wife Tina, and black lab Hannah. His hobbies include long distance running and making his own beer.

Eric Tang

Senior Software Engineer

Eric is an experienced software developer with strong analytical, communication and design skills. He specializes in ASP, ASP.Net, ADO.Net, XML, JAVA, HTML, and JavaScript. Since joining Ai, he has developed and tested a secure web-accessible and platform-agnostic mobile application for use by Inova in-patient clinicians. Eric has worked as a RA/TA for Towson University for four years laying down the law for Towson students, and on numerous IT projects.

Preethi Tiwari

Since 2015, Preethi has served as the sole QA resource on the CAliPHR project. She has owned the entirety of the ASEP QA process on the project, ensuring that CAliPHR has met the standards expected of an Ai product. She achieved this despite aggressive customer timelines and limited requirements documentation, all while splitting her time with the CRS project. She has a strong knowledge of CRS, Tableau and APCD Projects, methodical, and produces high quality of work, despite half-time allocation. She goes extra mile to help meet tight deadlines. Preethi has always handled herself with the level of professionalism and integrity you’d come to expect from an Ai employee. She is culturally aligned and has become a core of the QA team.

Eileen is a Mirth Certified integration engineer with experience working at small regional health information organizations and large healthcare systems. As a certified Scrum Master, she also helps coordinate the development and maintenance of Ai's Encounter Notification Service (ENS). When not at work, she enjoys cooking and eating good food.

Christopher Watson

Software Engineer

Chris, once a college football player, is now an Engineer, who has worked on projects such as SITE, Appeals Upload Module, and was lead Engineer for ONC’s JIRA Implementation. Chris has lived in Philadelphia and California previous to moving to Baltimore. He is originally from New Jersey, making him one of the lucky few who know that there is much more to that great state than can be seen on “reality” television.

Jeremy Wong

Jeremy joined Ai in 2013 and has been a major contributor to software projects such as PULSE, and MDM projects such as CRISP’s early provider directory work with Optum, TennCare and UCMC (both IBM MDM customers). He has been actively involved in MDM business development and has already significantly grown the TennCare opportunity. Jeremy is high energy and meets the definition of a “team player” as you see him zipping around the office collaborating with our team. Jeremy leads our MDM Services team, both managerially and strategically as we continue to grow this business line while providing great support to our existing customer base.

King Yip

Senior Manager

King supports Ai’s health information systems practice, where he is a project manager supporting the expansion of a leading Medicaid Managed Care Organization from the Maryland market into Washington, D.C. During this process, he improved customer satisfaction with the IS team by promoting communication, and helped restore trust between the MCO and other divisions through consistent delivery of IT services. He also happens to be part of the Ai photographers guild.

For over seven years, Mr. Afzal has served as a Principal and Director of Health Information Systems at Ai. He also serves as the Program Director for Maryland’s Health Information Exchange (CRISP). He has established relationships with state and federal government stakeholders and partners, and led strategic initiatives underpinning the company’s growth. As a result of his work, Ai has captured an expanding operational footprint in the fields of healthcare policy and technology focused on innovative IT product offerings.

Greg Farnum

Principal

Greg is a Director of Health Information Systems at Ai, and relationship manager for the ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT) portfolio of contracts. In addition, Greg serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for a contract with the ONC State HIE team to develop patient matching recommendations for MU Stage 3. He lives in Montpelier, Vermont, and enjoys water skiing, hunting, fly fishing, and coaching basketball in his spare time.

As a Principal of Audacious Inquiry, Mr. Horst leverages his 15+ years of project management, health information technology, and leadership experience to create meaningful and lasting partnerships with Ai customers. He joined Ai in 2010, and has overseen successful deployments of Ai’s leading encounter notification service (ENS) and IBM’s Initiate Master Data Management Solutions for several state health information organizations. Mr. Horst is also Ai’s Privacy & Security Officer, and has responsibility for the management of the organization’s employees and contractors.

Bill Howard

Bill leads Product Strategy with 20+ years of product development and leadership experience. Prior to joining Ai, he worked at Caradigm (GE/Microsoft) as VP of Product Management and Solution Architecture. He is married and has two children, and enjoys any and all outdoor sports.

Sandeep Antony

Enterprise Architect

Sandeep joined the Ai team in 2010 and was one of initial contributors to the development of ENS. Beyond ENS, Sandeep has been a pillar of the Ai technology team. Sandeep has been a resident expert in MDM, leading the implementation and operations of many of Ai’s MDM deployments. He has also been the go-to resource for many of our software and services customers, thus contributing to our strategy work and business development activities. Sandeep embodies so many of the character traits that make up an Ai’er; he is an expert in his field, he is humble, he cares about his colleagues, and he works incredibly hard. Sandeep will continue to lead the ENS team as he takes on broader Ai technology team leadership responsibilities.

Craig has performed an active role in the healthcare industry for nearly 10 years. Prior to joining Ai, as a representative of the medical society he led the formation and operations of the largest state-designated management services organization, which directly supported Maryland’s success in the Regional Extension Center.

Julie Boughn

Senior Director

Julie's passion for modernizing enterprise health IT, improving care coordination, healthcare delivery, and population health nationwide is evident through her diverse background across federal and state health agencies. She has previously held several CMS leadership roles and joined Ai in September of 2016.

Evan Carter

Senior Director

Evan joined Ai from Booz Allen Hamilton in 2009. Evan has played a leadership role across many critical Ai customer and initiatives. That work includes support CRISP, and importantly spinning up and managing CRISP’s work in DC. Perhaps most notably, Evan has skillfully led Ai’s work in Florida over many years. He moved to Florida for two years to manage the project from Tallahassee. In doing so, Evan forged relationships with key leaders in Florida. Those relationships, along with the broader Ai team’s performance, have allowed us to shift into the prime role in Florida offering ENS and other health information exchange services throughout the state. Evan has done a remarkable job in Florida and across an array of other projects.

Samit is a practicing Emergency physician and former CMIO, with a passion for leveraging health information to improve healthcare system performance as well as enhance clinical decision making. He has led large scale efforts to digitize healthcare as well as thought leadership around how to best utilize health information exchange.

Lindsey Ferris

Senior Director

Lindsey joined Ai in 2012 supporting a number of projects at CRISP. Since that time, Lindsey has gained the respect of both Ai colleagues and customers and has earned a spot on the CRISP leadership team. Lindsey has led the deployment of Maryland’s Prescription Drug Monitoring program, becoming an expert in the process, and has become a trusted advisor to State policy makers on health IT solutions to support public health initiatives. While maintaining the workload that comes with leading a large customer engagement, Lindsey has also consistently pursued advanced degrees in public health. She is currently working on her dissertation for her Doctorate of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School.

Ajay is a leader in product strategy and management with an in-depth experience in execution for over the last 18 years. Prior to joining Ai, Ajay was with Microsoft and Caradigm helping and managing product delivery and customer engagements. Jason McNamara

Director

Jason's passion for helping others is evident through his dedication to improving health IT and through nonprofit work that he devotes his time to outside the office. His background includes overseeing the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program and Medicaid funding; developing strategies to support the use of health information exchange (HIE), public health enterprise tools, and services; and connecting health IT policy with health IT technologies. He is a cofounder of Squad Leaders, a nonprofit committed to assisting military members transition back to their communities through existing military veterans in their communities.

Addy is a Director in the health information systems practice, specializing in Health Information Technology and Healthcare Policy. Addy has more than 13 years of experience serving in key roles for some of the largest stakeholders in the healthcare industry. He is a hobbyist programmer, an amateur photographer and Formula 1 fan. He likes collaborating in Hackathons and has been involved in multiple technology startups in the past. He lives with his wife and son in Northern Virginia.

Amber is a results-centric manager practiced in promoting cross-collaborative environments to enhance client service and satisfaction. Prior to joining Ai, she worked with the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), managing a team of ONC certification SMEs to successfully define and fulfill project requirements. She has an extensive background in nursing, and is a mother to two twins.

Karen Pruitt

Karen joined Ai as a Director in the health information systems practice. She has 11 years of experience in leading consulting companies, with recent experience in Federal Health IT and Health Insurance Exchanges. She is a certified PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), and has led business analysis, development and testing teams. Karen and her husband Graham are avid golfers, and love taking golf vacations in warm and sunny places.

Anand is an Integration Team Lead, bringing over 14 years of experience in application design and integration, with particular expertise in data management in the healthcare and retail sectors. Will joined Ai from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services where he was an Applications Architect specializing in projects relating to the Kentucky EHR program, including a project that enabled providers to attest Meaningful Use. Since joining Ai, he has supported the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in the development of the Master Data Management (MDM) component of the Enterprise Data Services Contract (EDSC).

Omkar Adhali

Omkar is a software engineer working primarily in Java on our ONC portfolio of projects. He is currently finishing up his Master’s in computer engineering at UMBC. He has experience in hardware engineering and robotics as well as software engineering, so if you need help with your robot he is the guy to ask.

Srini Adhinarayanan

Senior Software Engineer

Srini is a senior engineer who is working on ONC SITE and ONC NIST Certification Tools projects. Most recently he worked on designing and developing applications for the electronic filing infrastructure of the Federal Election Commission. He holds a BE in Computer Science and Engineering from Bharatiyar University.

Jenner Alpern

Software Engineer

joined Ai in 2013 as an Analyst and has amassed a significant knowledge of the Tableau suite of products. He lead the deployment of Tableau infrastructure for CRS before transitioning the day to day operations to the CRS ops team. Jenner worked on several critical reports for the CRS team including Key Metrics, Readmissions Reports and Panel Reports for Hospitals and Practices. He, along with Scott, Dr. Sharfstein and others, published an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association on "The Adequacy of Individual Hospital Data to Identify High Utilizers and Assess Community Health” for which he did the underlying data analysis.

Swati Bhandari

Senior Operations Engineer

Swati joined Ai in 2015 and has quickly made an impact on how Ai supports its customers. She has mastered the critical support tasks for ENS, Mirth, MDM tools and has brought some much-needed structure to how Ai supports after hours support. She may be best known for her rapid responsiveness to issues, and her thorough diagnosis of and follow-up to critical issues. Swati’s “can do” attitude and positive nature get mentioned often by customers, but also internally.

Daniel Brown

Dan is a Junior Software Engineer, and is fluent in so many programming languages he likely began learning at birth. He holds an Associates of Science Degree in Recording Arts with a focus on Game Programming from Full Sail University, and has done coursework in Computer Science/Hardware at Keene State College. Dan is also a very melodious fellow; he’s played guitar for over 12 years and also plays drums, sings, and composes.

As a Project Management Professional (PMP), she provides support on various projects pertaining to standards measurement and development, immunization registries, and environmental scans of the health IT landscape. Prior to joining Ai, she spent five years in various roles at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene with the Office of Oral Health. Kelly was unanimously declared MVP of the Ai Dodgeball Team.

Matt is a Senior Software Engineer with multiple certifications and over 15 years of advanced IT experience within the Department of Defense prior to joining Ai. He has contiguous experience designing, developing, implementing, and sustaining Enterprise capabilities in support of thousands of end users. Barbara is an Analyst and coordinator with over eight years of experience in business and policy analysis. In addition to her project work in health IT policy, she led Ai’s process improvement efforts to define its software engineering process to achieve CMMI level 3, is the resident SharePoint super-user, and leads human capital initiatives and resource management. In short, she holds the entire office together.

Aster Evenson

Lead Test Engineer

Aster joined Ai in 2012 and has been instrumental in building Ai’s QA team (including Offshore) and establishing our current QA processes. Aster has worked tirelessly to improve on how Ai conducts its QA by incorporating automation and improved documentation. She has always rallied the team to achieve critical deadlines. Recently she has taken the role of Project Lead and Scrum Master for the ENS team. In addition to all of this, Aster is a strong leader and exemplifies what it means to be a Manager at Ai. She ensures that her team has the resources and guidance they need to excel. Aster is a great asset to Ai.

Marc Falcone

Since he joined in 2014, Marc has become a subject matter expert in clinical quality measurement. He has dedicated a majority of his time to leading Ai’s CAliPHR team, where he has successfully launched the CAliPHR product to CRISP, and where it is currently in development for DC. In addition to his work on CAliPHR, Marc has supported numerous ONC projects and led Ai’s effort to guide Chase Brexton through the Meaningful Use program. Previously, he spent seven and a half years at Aerotek as a Business Development Manager within their Engineering Division.

Jacob joined Ai as a Software Engineer with an extensive background in business cryptography, systems analysis, and as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. At Ai, Jacob is a software developer for Maryland’s HIE, and he developed and maintains the Encounter Notification System. A family man, Jacob lives with his wife, Jordan, and baby boy. He enjoys math, philosophy, law, and the outdoors.

Andrew Larned

Andrew is a Senior Software Engineer with eight years of experience building the most advanced satellite command and control ground systems in the world, used by the NRO, the Air Force, NASA, NOAA, and commercial and foreign partners – from detailed software engineering to large-scale systems engineering. He also has fifteen years of experience writing code, engineering solutions, and leading teams, including development of the Air Force's first online HR website, the “virtual MPF” (Military Personnel Flight). He is currently working on an MS in Information Systems at DePaul University.

Rene has worked all over the world, including California, Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Korea. Outside of work Dan is a jack of all trades; he snowboards, skiis and longboards, plays competitive soccer, and is a real estate investor.

Karan Mansukhani is a Manager of Health Information Systems. He works closely with the leadership at CRISP (Maryland’s Health Information Exchange) to align funding streams with organizational goals as well as develops marketing, outreach and adoption strategies for existing services. Karan is passionate about supporting the healthcare community in delivering efficient care that is backed up by data. He leads a variety of initiatives, some of which include productizing reports and analytics, facilitating secure texting and image exchange. Karan serves on CRISP Integrated Care Network Steering committee and is critical member of the organization’s success.

Mike is a senior engineer, working primarily on projects such as CRISP PIM and statewide MPI initiatives. Previously, he worked as an application developer for Highmark in Camp Hill, PA. Kory Mertz

Director of Policy

Kory joined Ai in 2015 from The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) where he worked as a subject matter expert in state and federal health IT policy. At Ai, he has successfully lead multiple ONC projects, including developing a report on how to measure the actual use of standards in-the-field. He led the development of a strategy to connect all of the skilled nursing facilities in Maryland to CRISP. In his new role as Director of Policy, Kory will continue to provide Ai and our customers with expertise interpreting federal regulation and programs, including Meaningful Use and the Quality Payment Program, to translate policy knowledge into actionable steps and strategies for clients.

He has worked directly with the SVP and CNO for all of MedStar to implement a web based nursing dashboard from the Advisory Group, and has served as an Applications Analyst at MedStar Harbor Hospital.

Ashwini is a solutions-focused QA tester with four years of manual & automation testing experience, who has thorough knowledge in VB Script, SQL, Perl, Linux/Unix & management tools. Bhoomi joined Ai with more than 7 years of experience as an Automation Engineer. She is a fun loving, dedicated employee with expertise on various automation tools like Selenium, QTP, UFT, Silk. She also has experience working on Java, Perl, VBScript. She is responsible for the quality and QA sign offs for ICN Router project. She holds a bachelor degree in Computer Science. She lives in northern Virginia with her husband and son.

Lydia is a recent graduate of UMBC. While working as an office aid at Ai, she has been instrumental in Inova Meaningful Use testing and in MHCC’s EHR Product Portfolio update effort. She lives in Baltimore with her two cats and one sugar glider.

He has a masters in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor of technology in Computer Science & Engineering from GITAM University in India. Outside of work he loves to watch movies, play badminton and cook.

Raina Sharma

Associate

Raina is an epidemiologist and joined Ai as an Associate on the CRS team. Prior to joining Ai, she was an ORISE fellow for 3 years, spending most of that time at the U.S. Army Public Health Center. She has her Masters in Public Health from Columbia University and her Bachelors from Bucknell University. She resides in Maryland with her husband and her husky, who is a tough running partner to keep up with.

Kailash Shrestha

MDM Engineer

Kailash is an MDM Engineer with a background in software development, supporting Ai's IBM Initiate implementations across the country. He has an MS in Computer & Information Science from the University of Alabama, an MBA, and a BE in Computer Science.

Sabal Shrestha

Senior Software Engineer

Sabal is a Software Engineer with experience designing, developing and implementing different types of healthcare systems, and specializes in using the Microsoft technology stack. He carries an impressive skill set and is proficient in more programming languages than will fit in this bio. Outside of work, he trains for wrestling and jiu-jitsu.

Matt Stankiewicz

Associate

Matt is an interactive designer focusing on animation, infographics, and UX design. He graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a bachelor degree in Graphic Design in the Spring of 2016. Outside of work, he enjoys his dog Bruno, playing sports and Netflix. Matt currently lives the Baltimore area.

Scott Starkey

Software Engineer

Scott is an Engineer of Software and Technology. His responsibilities include developing and implementing the Ai company website, and providing JIRA support and maintenance to the ONC. He is from Baltimore but lives in Harford County with his wife Tina, and black lab Hannah. His hobbies include long distance running and making his own beer.

Eric Tang

Senior Software Engineer

Eric is an experienced software developer with strong analytical, communication and design skills. He specializes in ASP, ASP.Net, ADO.Net, XML, JAVA, HTML, and JavaScript. Since joining Ai, he has developed and tested a secure web-accessible and platform-agnostic mobile application for use by Inova in-patient clinicians. Eric has worked as a RA/TA for Towson University for four years laying down the law for Towson students, and on numerous IT projects.

Preethi Tiwari

Senior Test Engineer

Since 2015, Preethi has served as the sole QA resource on the CAliPHR project. She has owned the entirety of the ASEP QA process on the project, ensuring that CAliPHR has met the standards expected of an Ai product. She achieved this despite aggressive customer timelines and limited requirements documentation, all while splitting her time with the CRS project. She has a strong knowledge of CRS, Tableau and APCD Projects, methodical, and produces high quality of work, despite half-time allocation. She goes extra mile to help meet tight deadlines. Preethi has always handled herself with the level of professionalism and integrity you’d come to expect from an Ai employee. She is culturally aligned and has become a core of the QA team.

Eileen Wang

Integration Engineer

Eileen is a Mirth Certified integration engineer with experience working at small regional health information organizations and large healthcare systems. As a certified Scrum Master, she also helps coordinate the development and maintenance of Ai's Encounter Notification Service (ENS). When not at work, she enjoys cooking and eating good food.

Christopher Watson

Software Engineer

Chris, once a college football player, is now an Engineer, who has worked on projects such as SITE, Appeals Upload Module, and was lead Engineer for ONC’s JIRA Implementation. Chris has lived in Philadelphia and California previous to moving to Baltimore. He is originally from New Jersey, making him one of the lucky few who know that there is much more to that great state than can be seen on “reality” television.

Jeremy Wong

Director

Jeremy joined Ai in 2013 and has been a major contributor to software projects such as PULSE, and MDM projects such as CRISP’s early provider directory work with Optum, TennCare and UCMC (both IBM MDM customers). He has been actively involved in MDM business development and has already significantly grown the TennCare opportunity. Jeremy is high energy and meets the definition of a “team player” as you see him zipping around the office collaborating with our team. Jeremy leads our MDM Services team, both managerially and strategically as we continue to grow this business line while providing great support to our existing customer base.

King Yip

Senior Manager

King supports Ai’s health information systems practice, where he is a project manager supporting the expansion of a leading Medicaid Managed Care Organization from the Maryland market into Washington, D.C. During this process, he improved customer satisfaction with the IS team by promoting communication, and helped restore trust between the MCO and other divisions through consistent delivery of IT services. He also happens to be part of the Ai photographers guild.
