Audacious Inquiry (AI) is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Melissa Hargiss as a Director of Health Information Systems. Melissa possesses an extensive background in health IT adoption and policy at both the state and national levels. Melissa joins AI having most recently worked for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), within the Department of Health and Human Services, as a Senior Policy Analyst. In this capacity, she served as the lead policy representative for all state programs, while also directly overseeing four State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement awardees. Additionally, Melissa was the ONC liaison for the National Governors Association and led the ONC Community of Practice focusing on the Transition in Government Officials.
Prior to that, Melissa served as the Health IT Coordinator for the State of Tennessee – a governor-appointed position in which she was responsible for consensus-building among stakeholder organizations across Tennessee and the development and implementation of the state’s health IT strategic plan. Melissa also has a legal background, having practiced law in both California and Tennessee.
Upon joining the firm, Melissa will help to lead AI’s execution on its subcontractor to Harris Corporation on the implementation of the Florida Health Information Exchange (FHIE). Specifically, Melissa will serve as the project team’s Adoption & Outreach Coordinator, facilitating adoption of the Harris solution by healthcare organizations across Florida.
