The August 26 issue of the Baltimore Business Journal will feature an article about Audacious Inquiry’s role in a study of health insurance exchange options in Maryland. A health insurance exchange gives individuals and small businesses a marketplace to compare health plans from different insurance providers more easily. The small business exchange, also known as a Small Business Health Options Program, or SHOP, will allow employers with less than 50 employees to choose health plans for their employees with better information about the cost and benefits. Ai will evaluate the technology involved in running the marketplace. Our partner, the Institute for Health Policy Solutions, will study other aspects of implementing the exchange, such as when the employee threshold should be expanded from 50 to 100 for small businesses participating in the exchange.
