CRISP STATEWIDE HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE PLAN SUBMITTED TODAY

A comprehensive plan for statewide, citizen-centric health information exchange (HIE) — drafted by CRISP, an ad hoc collaborative that includes Erickson, Johns Hopkins Medicine, MedStar Health, and the University of Maryland — was submitted to Gov. Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Health Care Commission today.  AI team members served as project management for CRISP and co-authored the plan, which you can read here. The plan is the product of nine-months of workgroup sessions, research, and unprecedented collaboration among healthcare stakeholders in Maryland.  The initiative was one of two funded through the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission’s rate setting mechanism.  Maryland expects to fund a single statewide HIE implementation through a competitive bidding process later this year.
