Ai Uses HIE and Teaming Capabilities to Build Immunization Information Systems Statewide Pilot Projects

Leveraging HIE Capabilities in Consumer Engagement for Immunization Information Systems

Since 2013, Ai has been working together with Scientific Technologies Corporation (STC) and JB Communications to plan and implement an ONC project on consumer engagement for immunization information systems.  Ai’s collaboration with STC and JB communications provides a collective team approach to executing on ONC’s statewide immunization portal access objectives, and leveraging highly specialized and complementary skill sets across the three firms.

First, Ai brings to the table its extensive track record in statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE), systems integration, and health information technology and policy.  Second, STC has significant experience in supporting public health improvement through informatics tools and professional services, for clients that include U.S. public and private sector customers. STC supplies and supports state immunization systems that manage approximately 20% of the U.S. population. To that end, STC’s Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance systems, deployed in 5 states and multi-state jurisdictions, provides rapid case reporting, communication, and management tools for disease control. Rounding out the team, JB Communications’ services in communications and marketing draw on a wealth of client history with small and large partners  in health, scientific, and retail markets.

Throughout 2015, the Ai team will continue piloting the immunization information systems project, and building consumer engagement and portal access:  https://myir.net/  There are five States included in the ONC pilot work:  Washington, Arizona, Louisiana, Alaska, and West Virginia. The consumer-focused immunization access portal delivers personalized public health information and tools to consumers, providers, and public health agency personnel.

The core feature of MyIR.net is that it enables secure and reliable access to electronic copies of immunization records stored in state Immunization information systems of subscribing states.  MyIR.net(TM) is cloud-based and uses roles-and privilege-based permissions. It is also interoperable with HL7 compliant IIS.  Ai has played a pivotal role in overseeing the technical implementation of the MyIR.net portal, including roll out across the pilot states.
