The Unified Landing Page™ delivers value to physicians by providing insight at the point of care to benefit patients at risk of opioid addiction
BALTIMORE, MD. April 26, 2018—Audacious Inquiry’s Lindsey Ferris, who serves as Program Director of HIE Projects for CRISP, will be attending Health Datapalooza to raise awareness of how data can be leveraged to address the opioid epidemic.
Audacious Inquiry (Ai) is working with CRISP, Maryland’s health information exchange, to improve clinical decision-making through the Unified Landing Page™ (ULP™), which puts health data from disparate sources at the fingertips of providers. One feature that has recently been leveraged to fight the opioid epidemic allows providers to access patient’s potential overdose history triggered by hospital ED encounters. This capability delivers transparency to providers, so they are aware of a patient’s suspected overdose history before deciding their course of treatment.
Since the new overdose history alerting feature within the ULP went live at the end of March 2018, the system routed 167 alerts to providers in Maryland, DC, and West Virginia within the first two weeks, reflecting the severity of the opioid epidemic.
Ms. Ferris described the importance of providing this information to physicians: “A patient who has previously experienced a non-fatal overdose is at a higher risk for a fatal overdose in the future. When prescribers have access to this additional information, it helps them make more informed decisions regarding patient care and overdose prevention.”
If you are attending Health Datapalooza, hear Ms. Ferris speak about “Using Data to Address the Opioid Crisis” in a panel on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 10:45 AM – 12:00 PM.
