“Ai welcomes this opportunity to work with an exchange of the size and unique design of HSX. We are excited to help Southeastern Pa. connect hospitals and other medical providers, as well as healthcare payers, who want to deliver better-coordinated more-informed patient care,” says Chris Brandt, Managing Partner of Ai. “We are proud to leverage Ai’s track record of successful HIE implementations for several U.S. statewide exchanges, and fully bring to bear Ai’s collective healthcare IT and policy expertise for the Delaware Valley region that HSX serves.”
The agreement between HSX and Audacious Inquiry will focus on:
- Assessing and advancing HSX’s two initial clinical use cases, Automated Care Team Finder and Clinical Activity History.
- Deploying Ai’s proven and widely successful encounter notification service (ENS) technology to deliver hospitalization notifications, and related clinical data documents, to Pennsylvania payers, primary care providers, and other care coordinators.
- Leveraging Ai’s relationships with other regional/state HIEs to notify Pennsylvania payers and providers when their patients are hospitalized outside of the state.
Martin Lupinetti, Executive Director of HSX, says, “ENS provides a major opportunity to modernize transition-of-care processes related to hospital visits. In 2015, we are continuing to build a robust and scalable technology platform to deliver to physicians and other healthcare providers — and to insurers — useful and timely hospitalization alerts and discharge data that will improve point-of-care services, follow up, and disease management. We look forward to working with a respected company such as Ai.”
Since 2015, Audacious Inquiry has been responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of its proprietary solution called the Encounter Notification Service® for HSX. ENS can send secure alerts in several ways, including, via a secure web services connection, via Direct secure messaging technology, or via the ENS PROMPT user interface. ENS can rapidly drive measurable clinical improvements in quality and outcomes, and can be integral to initiatives around population health, transitions of care, and reduction of readmissions. ENS currently sends inpatient and emergency department admission and discharge notifications securely to HIE organization subscribers across Florida (FL HIE, AHCA), Utah (UHIN, cHIE), Delaware (DHIN), and Maryland (CRISP), as well as metro Philadelphia and the District of Columbia. About HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. (HSX)
HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. is a non-profit health information exchange organization serving the Delaware valley. Founded in 2009, HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern PA (or HSX) facilitates the exchange of patient data between hospitals and insurers within the region. Incorporated as a nonprofit organization, HSX was formed as a collaboration among major healthcare stakeholders, including health plans and acute-care hospitals across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties to enable the electronic exchange of patient information to improve patient outcomes and to manage and lower healthcare costs.
Ai leverages domain expertise in health information policy and technology to offer bold technology solutions that are leading the way to smarter delivery of healthcare. Ai’s implementation of master data management (MDM) tools to enable health information exchange has set the standard for state HIEs throughout the nation. Ai’s Encounter Notification Service® (ENS®) provides real-time notifications and clinical summaries to primary care providers, payers and other stakeholders coordinating care for patients. ENS technology sends hospital inpatient and ED admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) event notifications securely, between participating hospitals and inter-state among connected HIEs (i.e. Maryland, Delaware, and DC exchange ENS events). Since 2013, ENS has delivered over 10 million notifications, and served over 12 million subscribed patients in Florida, Utah, Delaware, and Maryland, as well as metro Philadelphia and the District of Columbia. ENS powers FLHIE’s Event Notification Service, DHIN’s Encounter Notification System, UHIN’s cHIE alerts, CRISP’s Encounter Notification System, and HSX’s Encounter Notification Service.
