UHIN Selects Ai to Deliver CHIE Notification Alerts and Health Exchange Solutions and Services

Baltimore, February 18, 2014 – Audacious Inquiry (Ai), a health information policy and technology company, has entered into an agreement with Utah Health Information Network (UHIN), to implement Ai’s proprietary solution and leading connected care health IT platform, Encounter Notification Service® (ENS®). ENS provides notifications to inform providers of care that hospitalizations are taking place for their patients. Specifically, ENS sends hospital admit, discharge, and transfer (ADT) notifications in real-time, securely and reliably, from every hospital for UHIN’s ENS service area. ENS will be a new service UHIN will be able to make available to its participating healthcare entities.

UHIN, founded in 1993, is a nonprofit coalition of healthcare providers, payers, state government and other stakeholders that have come together to reduce healthcare costs and improve quality and access for the community by enabling providers, payers and patients to exchange information electronically. Over the past 20 years UHIN has evolved into one of the most mature statewide health information exchanges in the country.

UHIN has selected Ai to leverage their industry leading experience developing and delivering products and services which enable effective, reliable and secure inter-connectivity among healthcare entities. Ai’s exemplary track record of success working with other state-wide health information exchanges will allow UHIN to add new services and to improve existing ones.
ENS delivers notifications to entities such as primary care practices, patient-centered medical homes, hospital readmission programs, and managed care organizations when patients under their care experience a hospital-based encounter.  Today, providers and others with care coordination responsibility may not know when one of their patients is admitted to a hospital, or they may find out well after the hospital event.  ENS supports hospital communication with primary care providers and care managers to promote care coordination, reduce readmissions, and comply with new payment models.

Ai will also deploy IBM’s Initiate Master Data Management (MDM) solution for UHIN. Ai’s experience and knowledge of this product’s technology allows organizations like UHIN to significantly improve the integrity of the master patient identifiers which are critical to the success of initiatives which rely on accurately matching key patient data which is to be exchanged among health providers to improve the quality of care for their patients.
