CDC Immunization (IZ) Gateway

The Federal Team manages the technical and program aspects of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Immunization (IZ) Gateway to exchange data between Immunization Information Systems (IISs) and multi-jurisdictional vaccine providers to enable more complete records of patient immunization history. The IZ Gateway reduces the burden on providers and IIS to exchange data for a more complete view of patient and population immunization rates. Some providers live on the IZ Gateway include the Veterans Administration, the Department of Defense, Fond du Lac, DocStation, AZOVA, and Docket.

The IZ Gateway currently supports:

  • 97%

    of all jurisdictions nationally

  • 52%

of IISs participating in IIS-IIS exchange

  • 243

    active IIS-IIS exchanges

  • 8

active providers exchanging with 7,105 facilities in 51 jurisdictions

Since 2015, Audacious has been at the forefront of developing the ONC Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL), providing a comprehensive and authoritative listing of tested and certified health IT products. Our team has supported the development, maintenance, and operation of the system. We have simplified the process for developers to submit their semi-annual attestations, demonstrating our commitment to elevating the standards of health IT products, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing the overall quality of healthcare delivery.

The CHPL supports over

  • 50,000

    unique interactions per month

  • 13,000

    visits per month

  • 8,000

    unique users per month

Strategy

The Federal Team supports the development of the annual report to Congress outlining the current health IT landscape, gaps, and recommendations from the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC) as required by the 21st Century Cures Act. We work with ASTP and HITAC members to research, write, and edit the annual report and provide communications support to ASTP. We have assisted in developing the annual reports for fiscal years 2018-2023.

Our policy and research teams consistently monitor the industry landscape for news, policy changes, and regulatory updates related to interoperability, health equity, artificial intelligence, patient access to information, public health, and privacy and security.

Audacious has been deeply engaged with developing and educating organizations about The Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), providing a well-rounded understanding of the policy and technical considerations associated with its adoption. We understand TEFCA’s intricacies, from policy and technical frameworks to its impact on national networks and market dynamics. Our team includes veterans who helped ONC craft TEFCA.

We have also supported ASTP over several years in their initial activities to develop TEFCA. We analyzed all existing national networks, identifying their commonalities, differences, and unique attributes. This analysis was publicly presented at one of the initial public stakeholder meetings to foster a broader public understanding of the current state of national networks. Additionally, we assisted the ASTP in developing various educational materials to help stakeholders understand TEFCA. We have advised multiple clients on TEFCA, including assisting a now designated QHIN in determining its strategic approach.

At the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC), the Federal Team is leading the efforts to consolidate clinical data collected by the Qualified Entities throughout New York in a shared cloud-based Data Lake infrastructure to support public health priorities identified by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). This work involves laying the technical groundwork for bringing in the data, assessing the quality of the data for improvement efforts, and executing on delivering data to the State, as allowable by data use agreements. We take pride in our deep understanding of the priorities of NYeC and its partners to ensure goals are met. We balance the decisions made to execute on work now while keeping an eye on the future direction of the organization and ensuring short time-to-value on technical investments.

With deep experience within the health information exchange (HIE) space, the Federal Team supports a number of leading HIEs with a range of projects and strategic needs. These efforts range from assisting HIEs with obtaining long-term Medicaid funding to supporting large-scale technology implementations.

Services

Leveraging Atlassian’s powerful suite of work management and collaboration tools, including Jira, Service Management, and Confluence, Audacious has developed an Issue Tracking System tailored specifically for ASTP. Our solution enables ASTP to execute and deliver on mission-critical programs like Public Health Informatics & Technology (PHIT) Workforce Development Program, United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI), and Electronic Clinical Quality Measure (eCQM) endeavors. Additionally, our solution facilitates ASTP’s engagement with the public on vital public health topics, including initiatives like the 21st Century Cures Act and clinical quality measures jointly managed by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid and ASTP.
The Federal Team has developed a custom help desk built specifically for the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL). Designed to seamlessly integrate with the Public Health Laboratory Electronic Test Orders and Results Initiative, funded by the CDC, our Jira Service Management-based platform ensures efficient and effective support for critical public health initiatives. Our custom solution enables APHL to streamline help desk operations, enhance collaboration, and deliver exceptional service.
Leveraging the power of Salesforce, we built a platform that centralizes all onboarding-related data for the CDC IZ Gateway project. This data includes participant information, documentation, and communication history, enabling administrators to create custom workflows tailored to the CDC IZ Gateway program requirements. Consolidating apps and data structures, our platform efficiently manages participant information, and monitors program milestones. Our platform acts as a centralized hub for team collaboration, facilitating seamless data sharing and cross-departmental cooperation.
